Drink Water, Think Smarter

We all know that staying hydrated helps you feel your best, but did you know it can also help you think your best?

Water makes up more than 60% of the human body. Humans can go weeks without food, but only days without water. Critical brain shrinkage can be caused by a measly 2% drop in water intake.

The effects from this shrinkage can cause:

  • decreased concentration
  • slow thinking
  • impaired neuro-muscular functions

To avoid this, drink up!

The Institute of Medicine recommends around 9 cups (2.2 liters) of total beverages a day for women, and around 13 cups (3 liters) for men. Beverages that count towards your daily needs include water, sports drinks, tea, coffee, and milk, to name a few. But remember, your needs may be a bit different, depending on your activity level and the surrounding environment.
