The Institute of Medicine recommends around 9 cups (2.2 liters) of total beverages a day for women, and around 13 cups (3 liters) for men. Beverages that count towards your daily needs include water, sports drinks, tea, coffee, and milk, to name a few. But remember, your needs may be a bit different, depending on your activity level and the surrounding environment.
